Asked Questions: |
| |
|
 |
How do we begin a project with Longo Construction?
|
 |
Any
project - a new home, remodeling, a commercial venture - begins in
a conference with our client. It is important to determine the requirements
of the job, the needs of the client, the budget parameters. |
| |
|
 |
What
happens after the first meeting? |
 |
Once
the initial parameters of work are determined, then site conditions
are to be considered and a timetable determined. At that point, as
the concept takes form, the feasibility of the task is examined and
the scope of work established. |

begin your home. |

 |
How is remodeling different? |
 |
Remodeling requires careful scheduling, and a thorough understanding
of the work to be done. When working with an existing structure, there
may be unforeseeable conditions (such as rusty pipes behind a wall)
that alter the scope of the project and thus the timetable. There
should be a clear understanding as to when and how workers will have
access to the property, especially if the owner remains in residence
through the construction period. |
| |
|
 |
How
long does remodeling take? |
 |
The
time varies based on the scope of the work and uncontrollable factors
such as the weather or unforeseen conditions. A bathroom-remodeling
project may take just a few weeks, while a two-story addition may
take six months or more. |
| |
|
 |
What
can I expect during remodeling? |
 |
Your
home will become a work site for a period of time. Disruption can
be minimized if you prepare. Agree with your contractor on the start
and stop times for workers. Determine in advance where workers will
park. Will additional bathroom facilities need to be placed on site?
Determine if - and where - smoking will be allowed. Review all the
details of a workday with your contractor to achieve the most satisfactory
conditions for your family and your work force. Make sure phone numbers
for you are readily available, and that you have all appropriate phone
numbers for your contractor. |
| |
|
 |
What
can I do to make sure a project stays on schedule? |
 |
Set aside time for regular meetings or telephone calls to review progress
and respond to questions. Make product and materials selections in
the timeframe requested, so items not locally available may be ordered.
Realize changes you make after work has begun will affect not only
the schedule but also the budget. |
